Berneta L.(Liechty)Lehman, 93, of Berne passed away Friday, August 18, at Swiss Village. She was born on February 15, 1924 in Berne to Robert U. and Emma(Sprunger)Liechty. She was married on December 24, 1943 to Adrian Lehman.
Adrian and Berneta served as missionaries in Lazy Mountain Children's Home in Palmer, Alaska from 1951-1956. She was a lifelong homemaker and was a member of the Fist Mennonite Church in Berne where she volunteered in various ministries. She also enjoyed working on puzzles.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Jaculin(Clarence)Torkelson of Berne and Sue(Robert)Harness of Ft. Wayne; 2 sons, Jay(Rhonda)Lehman of Franklin, Tn. and Matt(Joye)Lehman of Berne, 24 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, brothers, Loren and Robert Liechty of Berne.
Preceding in death are her parents, husband in 1989, foster daughter, Katherine Abel in 2009, granddaughter Jill Torkelson in 1974; brothers, Melvin, E. Gordon, James and Samuel; sisters Anna Roop, Corena Liechty and Colleen Smith.
Visitation will be at Swiss Village Chapel Friday, August 25 from 3 to 8 pm and 1 hour prior to the 11 am services Saturday, August 26 at the First Mennonite Church, Berne. Officiating is Pastor Jeff Linthicum with burial at the MRE Cemetery.
