Bonnie Fay(Calhoun)Neuenschwander Habegger, 93, Berne, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2016 at her Swiss Village home. Born on January 5. 1923, in Kaufman County, Texas, she was the daughter of Grover and Sarah Susie Calhoun. Bonnie grew up in Kaufman, and moved to Dallas to attend nursing school. She enlisted as an Army nurse during WW II and was serving in France as a First Lieutenant where she met her husband, Howard Neuenschwander. They married on October 12, 1948, in Texas and settled in Berne, IN. where they raised their four children.

Bonnie was a member of the Bethel Brethren Church. She worked as a registered nurse for many years for local doctors, Adams County Memorial Hospital and Swiss Village. Bonnie was a devoted wife, and a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend whose great joy came from spending time with the many people she loved. She delighted in her role as Grandma, and was selfless in helping and supporting her children as they raised their own families. Above all, Bonnie shared compassion, kindness, and love for the Lord to others. She possessed incredible inner strength and resilience, which she used throughout her life to put others before herself.

She is survived by a daughter, Janean(Steve)Kisor, son, Clay(Kathy)Neuenschwander of Fort Wayne, daughter, Cynthia(Jeff)House of Auburn, sisters, Sue(Jerry)Sprunger of Berne, Helen Hansard, Joyce Davis, Doris Dykes, brothers, Hugh Calhoun, and Royce Calhoun of Texas. Her memory will be cherished by 18 grandchildren, Jeremy Boerger of Spring, TX., Paul(Abby)Boerger of Flower Mound, TX., Sara(Gabe)Smith of Snyder, TX., Mark(Dena)Boerger of Fort Worth, TX., John Boerger of Dallas, TX., April(Chad)Steinacker of Ft. Wayne, Kara(Aaron)White of Troy, OH., Clifton(Jenni)Gerber of Ft. Wayne, Colin Massey of Ft. Wayne, Tyler Neuenschwander of Aurora, IL., Chase(Breanna)Neuenshwander of Hillsboro, OR., Madison Neuenschwander of Portland, OR., Landon(Ashley)House of Wilkesboro, NC., Ashley House of Atlanta, GA., Hillary(Andrew)Vaught of Huntington, Carson(Brianne)House of Valparaiso, Heather(Donny)Graham of Warsaw, and Austin(Jerra)House of Huntington, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Preceding in death are her parents, husband, Howard Neuenschwander, daughter, Vonda(Gerald)Boerger, second husband, Grant Habegger, sisters, Mildred Bidwell, Ruby Luker, and brother, Grover Calhoun.

Funeral services are Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 10:30 am at the Swiss Village Auditorium with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also Tuesday, 27th from 4 to 8 pm at the Swiss Village Auditorium. Officiating is Pastor Joe Nass. Burial is in the MRE Cemetery, Berne
