Donald G. Newton,Jr.,71, of Linn Grove, IN, passed away on April 28, 2016, in Fort Wayne after a brief struggle with cancer. He was born to
Donald G. Newton,Sr., and Helen(Dobias)Newton on March 6, 1945, in Colrain, MA. He married Edith Alice Davis on May 28, 1977, who survives.

Donald was a member of Faith and Family Baptist Church in Logansport, IN. He was also part of several church-plantings ministries including Calvary Baptist Church in Easthampton, Mass., in the 1980's and Fellowship Baptist Church of Bluffton, IN, in 1996. In addition to these church planting ministries Don also enjoyed fellowship with many area church including Grace Bible Church of Berne, IN; Christian Mission Fellowship of Berne; Berne Christian Fellowship of Berne, IN.;(located in the country near Linn Grove); Faith Baptist Church of Berne; Fellowship Baptist Church of Portland; Grace Baptist Church of Bluffton, IN.; Trinity Bible Methodist Church (formerly of Tocsin, IN.) and Fort Wayne Primitive Baptist Church of Fort Wayne; Music was also a very important part of his life and he enjoyed hymn sings and participation in ortorios organized by the Mennonite Choral Society, a ministry of the First Mennonite Church of Berne.

Don graduated from Wallkill Central High School in WallKill, NY. He earned his bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and his master's degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He attended U. Mass. on an ROTC scholarship and served in the U.S.Air Force from 1970-1972 during the Vietnam War. Following his service to his country, he returned home to work with his father in their home-based business Newton Associates in Engineering, Inc. In the mid-1970's he attended Heritage Baptist Institute (an evening Bible school in Springfield, Mass), where he met his wife Edith in 1976. They were married the next year on May 28, 1977. He worked in the engineering business until 1985 when he began his computer business Datamark of Worthington to pursue his interest in computer technology. Following the family's move to Indiana in 1990, Don worked for Setser Owen & Associates in
Decatur as a surveyor while continuing his work in computers. He started working full-time in Datamark again in 1995 and began doing business as Newton Assciates in 2000 following his father's retirement. Don's son, David took over management of the business in 2014 to allow Don to semi-retire. During his semi-retirement, Don pursued his interestes in gardening, wookworking, computer programming, and Bible study while continuing to work part-time in the computer business.

Surivors include the following: his wife Edith of nearly 39 years; two daughters Jeanette Newton and Alyssa(Newton)Snyder of Linn Grove, IN., a son David Newton of Linn Grove, IN; a grandson
Samuel Snyder of Linn Grove; sister Juanita Pruner of Northampton, Mass.; cousins Bill Dobias of Arizona, Patricia Robbins of Mass., Joan Hansen of Maine; Pamela Cline of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Donald Sr. and Helen Newton and by a cousin Jerry Kavanaugh of Vermont

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 11:00 am at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne with visitation one hour prior to servics. Berne Post #468 will perform military rites for the veteran. Officiating is Rev. Lenny Stringer of Fellowship Baptist Church in Bluffton. Burial will be held at a later date in the Red Brick Cemetery in Colrain, Mass.
