Betty L. Zurcher, 86, went to be with her Lord on April 3, 2016, at Swiss Village, Berne. Born January 14, 1930, she was the only child of Herman and Bessie(Tremp)Schug. She had a special relationship with her uncle and aunt, Howard and Pearl Croy, and their two daughters, Carolyn Steffen and Bonnie Steiner. She married Paul Zurcher on July 16, 1949. Paul predeceased Betty on May 7, 2015.
Betty was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, serving in the UMW Group, Children's Sunday School, sewing for Christmas programs, and helping with funeral dinners. Her career included telephone operator, stay at home mom, and many years at Zurcher Tire. She was known for her soft-spoken ways and many quiet kindnesses.
Betty and Paul are survived by three children, Larry(Susan Schurger)Zurcher, Mark(Vickie Kolter)Zurcher and Colleen Zurcher-McGauran. In addition, they leave 6 grandchildren, Lindsey(Keith)Beer, Kristina(Michal)Zurcher-Podszywalow, Jonathan(Melinda)Zurcher, Brittney(Jonathan)Meier, Jaclyn(Thomas)Ausborn, and Maureen McGauran, 7 great-grandchildren, Kale, Hailey, Daniel, Clay, Larissa, Bria, Asher, and 3 great-grandchildren to be.
A private family funeral will be held Tuesday, April 5, at 2:00 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, Berne, with visitation one hour beforehand. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Betty's memory to Swiss Village Alpenrose, the Adams County Community Foundation Z Fund, &/or a charity of one's choice. Officiating is Pastor Mike Wertenberger. Burial in the MRE Cemetery, Berne.
