Clifton D. Zuercher, 91, Berne passed away on February 28, 2016 at Swiss Village. He was born to David and Leona Lehman Zuercher on October 18, 1924 in Adams County. He married Dorine R. Howard on March 4, 1950.
Cliff was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He was employed at Dunbar Furniture for 27 years and later Berne Furniture for 15 years.
Cliff was a veteran serving in the U.S.Army in WW II and member and past commander of the Berne American Legion Post #468. Also member of Geneva VFW Post #6751, and Decatur Moose Lodge. One of Cliff's favorite past times was cutting down trees and providing firewood to the community. He also enjoyed raising rabbits, gardening, fishing, and card playing.
Survivors include: his wife, Dorine and daughters; Cynthia Pyle of Geneva, Dorothy "Dot" Martin, Melinda Coy both of Ft. Wayne, and foster daughter, Valerie Ford of Ft. Wayne, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brothers; Howard, Sam, Paul, Gary all of Berne, sisters; Rowena Whisler of Berne, and Marilyn Graham of Roxana, Ill.
Preceding in death are his parents, his first wife Velma Davidson, brothers Arthur and James Zuercher, sisters; Martha Schug and Pauline Solano, and 1 grandson.
Funeral services are Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 10:30 am at the First Church of the Nazarene, Berne with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Visitation also Tuesday, March 1 from 3 to 8 pm at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home. Officiating is Pastor Paul Tubbs and Dr. Wayne Steury. Burial is in the Six-Mile Cemetery, rural Bluffton with military graveside rites by Berne American Legion Post #468.
Preferred memorials are to the church &/or Swiss Village Samaritan Fund.
