Philip D. Neuenschwander, 91, well known Berne auctioneer, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Swiss Village. He was born to David P. and Katherine(Amstutz)Neuenschwander on July 17, 1924 in Adams County. He married Leona Liechty on September 22, 1946 who survives.

Phil was a member of the First Mennonite Church where he was a past member of the MCC Meat Canner committee and an usher for many years. He was owner of Phil's Auction Company and was past owner-president of Reppert School of Auctioneering where he was an instructor for over 50 years. For 50 years he auctioneered at the Adams County 4-H Fair and 31 years at the Berne-Geneva Sale Barn.. He was a grand marshal of the Adams County 4-H Parade and the Swiss Days Parade. Phil was a member of the Indiana Auctioneer Association, Berne Rotary Club and the Berne Chamber of Commerce. Throughout the years he collected Farmall tractors and enjoyed pony, horse, and tractor pulls in the area. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grand and great-grand children.

Survivors include his wife, Leona, three daughters; Judith(Marvin)Bransteter, Patti(Ron)Hoelle both of Ft Wayne, Cheryl(Mike)Roop of Van Wert, sister, Maryann(Roger)Beer of Linn Grove, brothers; Howard(Nancy) Neuenschwander, Paul(Judy)Neuenschwander both of Berne, Alvin Neuenschwander of Bluffton, sister-in-law Dorothy Neuenschwander of Berne, 8 grandchildren; Angela, Scott,Lori, Jason, Ben, Michelle, Kyle and Isaac , 16 great-grandchildren, and many step grand, great, and great-great grandchildren.

Preceding in death are son, Thomas Lynn Neuenschwander, brothers; Simon, Daniel, Vilas, David, and William Neuenschwander, sisters; Lydia Neuenschwander, Laura Sprunger, and Caroline Neuenschwander.

Funeral services are Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 10:30 am at the First Mennonite Church with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also Wednesday from 12 noon to 8 pm at the Swiss Vllage Chapel. Officiating are Pastor Jerry A. Flueckiger, Pastor Jeff Linthicum, and Marie Nussbaum. Burial is in the MRE Cemetery, Berne.

Preferred memorials are to MCC Meat Canner &/or First Mennonite Church Missions.
