Mabel R. Lehman, 99, longtime resident of Berne, passed away 9:00 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 at the home of her daughter in Zionsville, IN where she lived the past 4 years after living 8 years at Swiss Village. Mabel was born May 29, 1916 in Adams County, IN to Andrew and Kate Liechty Sprunger. She married Arlo V. Lehman on October 24, 1937.
Mrs. Lehman was a loving mother and homemaker. She attended Moody Bible Institute, was a member of the First Mennonite Church, member of Women in Mission and a quilter. Favorite enjoyments were riding her 3-wheel bicycle around Berne until she was 91 and volunteering at Et Cetera Ecke for over 20 years. Mabel and Arlo traveled internationally to 8 countries, including overseas visits to each of their children.
She is survived by one daughter, Rose(Robert)Love of Zionsville, IN., 3 sons; Dwight(Roberta)Lehman of Mt. Laurel, N.J., Dr. David(Jean)Lehman of Fort Collins, CO., and Rev.John(Barbara)Lehman of Harrisonburg, VA., five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren
Preceding in death are her husband, Arlo, brothers; Roman and Wayne Sprunger who was killed in WWII., daughter-in-law, Roberta(Dwight), grandson, Andrew Lehman and a step granddaughter, Lisa Briggs.
Funeral services are Monday, July 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Swiss Village Chapel with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also Sunday, July 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Swiss Village. Officiating is Pastor Anita Rediger and Pastor Jerry Flueckiger. Burial is in the M.R.E. Cemetery, Berne.
