Jerry J. Parr, 82, Berne, passed away on January 3, 2015. He was the son to J.Louis and Eugenia Hunnicutt Parr born on September 8, 1932 in Marion, IN. He married Pauline Gerber on March 15, 1959 who survives.
Jerry graduated in 1950 from Geneva High School and was a member of the First Mennonite Church, Berne. He served his country in he U.S. Army during the Korean War, from 1953-1954, being stationed in Germany. He worked with his father at Parr's Standard Station and Grocery in Geneva and was a bus driver for 50 years for South Adams Schools retiring in 2006.
He was a former member of the Jayland Antique Car Club, and a life member of the Tri-State Engine Show of Portland. He enjoyed restoring old cars and motorcycle engines. Most of all, he was a loving and caring father to his children and grandchildren.
Surviv ing are his wife, Pauline of 55 years, 2 sons; Charles(Annette)Parr of Markle, IN., Robert(Debra)Parr of Brighten, CO., daughter, Paulette(Todd)Whaley of St.Louis, MO., 6 grandchildren; Kris(Sara)Adams of Bluffton, Danielle Parr, Brandon Parr, Nathan Parr all of Brighten, CO., and Michael and Adina Whaley of St. Louis, MO.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Fred, David and Guy Steven, sister-in-law, Flo Parr, and brother-in-law James Gerber.
Funeral services are Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the First Mennonite Church Chapel with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also Wednesday from 3 to 8 PM at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry A.Flueckiger officiating. Burial is in the MRE Cemetery, Berne.
