Brice Leon Minger, 66, Berne, fought a short but courageous battle with brain cancer and was escorted peacefully into the presence of the Lord while surrounded by family on January 31, 2014 at Swiss Village. He was born on April 25, 1947 in Adams County to Loris and Edith(Sprunger)Minger. He married his best friend, Judith "Judy" Flora Minger, on August 24, 1969.
He was a graduate of Berne High School, Huntington College, and earned a Masters Degree in Education from Indiana University. Brice taught at Tri-Creek Schools in Lowell, where he coached middle school basketball and DeKalb Central Schools in Auburn where he also served as the Assistant Athletic Director. His career in retail sales started in 1980 and prior to retiring in 2011, he was employed by Clauser Furniture for the last 27 years. Brice served 16 years on the South Adams School Board, was an active member of the First Missionary Church, and was very involved with the local Gideon's International Chapter. He enjoyed spending his free time with family and friends at Lake Wawasee, fishing trips, bible study, playing cards, and cheering for his favorite teams, Notre Dame and the Yankees.
Brice is survived by his wife, Judy,; two daughters, Ericka Kelly Minger of Twinsburg, Ohio, and Sarah Nicole(Ben)VanDonkelaar of Grand Haven, Michigan; brother Keith(Saundra)Minger of Berne; special sister , Donna(Leon)Lehman of Bluffton, Ohio; uncle,Tillman Sprunger of Berne,; aunt, Miriam Sprunger of Berne; uncle, Leroy(Carolyn)Sprunger of Berne. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother, Larry Lee.
Funeral services will be at the First Missionary Church in
Berne on Saturday, February 8th at 10:30 AM with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also Friday, February 7th from 2:00 -8:00 PM at FMC. Officiating will be Pastor Don Williams and Pastor Max Haines. Burial will be in the M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne.
