Roger Dean Miller, 71, Berne passed away on September 27, 2013 at Swiss Village. He was born on May 6, 1942 to Maurice and Edith(Habegger) Miller.
He graduated from Berne-French High School and was in a computer programmer training program etablished for disabled individuals by IBM in Indianapolis, IN. He retired from IBM at Lincoln Life as an Information Technology Specialist. Roger also worked for Lincoln National Life Insurance Company, Mutual Security Life Company, and E.P.Graphics in Berne.
He has been involved with the League for the Blind and Disabled, Turnstone Center for Disabled Children and Adults, and United Way in Fort Wayne, serving on boards and working in an advisory capacity. He provided peer support for spinal cord disabled individuals at area hospitals.
He attended Brookside Community(Mennonite) Church in Fort Wayne.
He is survived by his father, a sister, Nancy(Don)Egley of Decatur, nieces, Kami(Ed)Miller Ulmer of Henniker, N.H., Jody(Quinn)Egley Hirschy of Fort Wayne, and great nieces and nephew, Aria and Arden Ulmer and Caroline and William Hirschy.
He is preceded in death by his mother and brother, Wayne Edward.
Funeral services are Tuesday, October 1, at 10 AM at the Swiss Village Chapel with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also Monday, September 30 from 4 to 8 pm at Swiss Village. Officiating is Pastor James Compton.
Burial is in the Springhill (Backesto) Cemetery, rural Berne at a later date.
Preferred memorials are to Youth for Christ, Turnstone Center for Disabled Children and Adults, League for the Blind and Disabled, and/or Swiss Village Samaritan Fund.
