Helen A. Newton, 87, Berne, Indiana, formerly of Worthington, Mass., passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the Visiting Nurse and Hospice in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Helen was born in Colrain, Mass, on April 3, 1926, to the late John Jr. and Anezka(Jandova)Dobias. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years, Donald G. Newton,Sr., and her brother, William J. Dobias.

Helen graduated with honors from Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls, Mass. in 1943. She married Donald at the Nobnoster Air Force Chapel, Warrensburg, Missouri, on April 16, 1944. Donald and Helen lived most of their life in the East but settled in Berne, Indiana, in July 1996 to be close to their son, Donald Newton, Jr. and his family.

She is survived by a son, Donald,Jr. and his wife Edith
Newton of Linn Grove, Indiana; a daughter, Juanita(Newton)and her husband, James Pruner of Worthington, Mass.; six grandchildren, Sarah(Pruner)Crawford of Pennsylvania; Kate Pruner of Easthampton, Mass.; James John(JJ)Pruner of Boston, Mass.; Jeanette Newton, and Alyssa(Newton)Snyder, both of Linn Grove,Indiana; David Newton of
Geneva, Indiana; five great-grandchildren, Max and Ryan Crawford of Pennsylvania, Lauren and Avery Munster of Easthampton, Mass., Samuel Snyder of Linn Grove, Indiana; her niece, Patricia Robbins of Greenfield, Mass., her nephew, William C. Dobias and his wife, Eileen of Hereford, Arizona; and other friends and relatives.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
