Ernest R. Liechty, 78, Berne passed away on January 28, 2013 at Swiss Village. He was born to Amos and Della(Nussbaum) Liechty on December 14, 1934 in Adams County. He married Berdella M. Alt on April 5, 1958.
He was a member of the First Mennonite Church and was active in a diversified livestock and grain farm. He was supportive of his church, county 4-H organization, FFA and the MCC Meat Canner. Ernie loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his sons; Ted(Kathy) Liechty of Berne, Kent(Teri) Liechty of Berne, daughters: Jane(Denver) Nussbaum of Monroe, and Sondra(Jeff) Lehman of Monroe, 11 grandchldren and 2 great-grandchldren; sisters, Grace Herman of Keystone, Irena Sprunger and Leona Neuenschwander both of Berne.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter, Kimberly Nussbaum, brothers; Grover, Irvin, Amos,Jr. Liechty, sisters; Vera Gerber, Marcella Scholl, Esther Neuenschwander, Justine Liechty, Ernestine Liechty.
Funeral services are Saturday, February 2 at 10:30 am at the First Mennonite Church with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also on Friday from 1 to 8 pm at the Swiss Village Chapel. Officiating is Pastor Jerry A. Flueckiger.
Burial is in the MRE Cemetery, Berne
Preferred memorials are to the MCC Meat Canner &/or Galesburg Rescue Mission & Women's Shelter, Galesburg, Illinois.
