Michael J. Lehman, 73, Fort Wayne, native of Berne passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. He was born to Edgar and Inez (Habegger) Lehman on February 10, 1939. He married Donna Lehmann on October 4, 1959.
Michael was a member of the Fort Wayne Maplewood Mennonite Church where he was a founding member of the church. He also was on the committee which started the nursery school. He graduated from Purdue University and was a project engineer for International Harvester/Navistar for over 40 years. Michael was an innovative engineer who was awarded five patents for inventing various truck systems. He was co-president for the Parkisons Support Group and was a volunteer Santa Claus at the Fort Wayne Development Center for over 20 years. He was a member of the Swiss Heritage Society and Berne American Legion Post #468 for 29 years. Michael was an avid sports and racing fan. Above all he enjoyed following his grandchilden's activities.
Survivors include his daughter, Pamela (George) Pulliam of Cumming, Ga., 2 sons, Carl Lehman of Fort Wayne and Bruce (Tina) Lehman of Woodburn, In. Four grandchildren, one step grandson, and one great-grandchild, also a sister, Gretchen (Claude) Oxendine of Rockledge, Fla.
Preceding in death are his parents and wife.
Funeral services are Saturday, October 27, at 10:30 am at the First Mennonite Church Chapel, Berne with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also Friday from 3 to 7 pm at the Maplewood Mennonite Church, Fort Wayne. Officiating is Pastor Barry Schmell.
Burial is in the MRE Cemetery, Berne.
Preferred memorials are to the Maplewood Mennonite
Church &/or the C.D.C.(Berne Clock Tower).
