Harlow Ray Fletcher, 73, Berne peacefully passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012 at his home while surrounded by his family. He was born on September 12, 1939, in New London, Wisconsin to Ray and Eilene Fox Fletcher. He married Carolyn Shoemaker on June 3, 1963.
Harlow was a well-loved teacher for 43 years. He retired from teaching at South
Adams Elementary School in 2004. He was a member of the West Missionary Church where he faithfully served in many capacities. Other groups in which he participated were the Edelweiss Singers, Classroom Teachers Association, and the Reading Teachers Association.
He leaves his legacy with his wife, Carolyn, daughters, Colleen (husband Peter and children Mackenzie, Michaela, Xavier, and Michael) Rupp of Berne, Jeannine (husband Curtis, and children Kirsten and Caleb) Wurster of Berne, Christine (husband Rodney and children Alexandra, and Jacob) Burton of Fort Wayne, and Kathleen (husband Trent and children Chloe, Zane and Ezekiel) Reynolds of Bellefontaine, Ohio, brothers Lee Fletcher, Port Edwards,Wisconsin, Marvin (May)Hintz, Nekoosa, Wisconsin, Bonnie Dennis), sisters Wilhelm and Betty Ubinger.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eilene Fox Fletcher Hintz, father, Ray Fletcher, brothers, Mark and Gayle Fletcher and grandson Zachary Fletcher Rupp.
Harlow loved life and cherished each day God blessed him with grace which was evident to anyone who ever encountered Harlow . Before his illness, his favorite pastime was traveling, including trips to Israel, Europe, Alaska, and the
British Isles among his favorites
Funeral services are on Monday, October 8 at 10:00 am at West Missionary Church with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation is also Sunday, October 7 at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home from 12 noon to 7 pm. Officiating is Pastor Keith Rupp.
Burial is in the Backesto (Springhill) Cemetery, rural Berne.
Preferred memorials are to the West Missionary Church building fund and/or Family Life Care.
