Amos Liechty, Jr., 73, Berne, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012 in Berne. He was born on December 17, 1938 in Adams County to Amos and Della(Nussbaum) Liechty,Sr. He was married to Beverly Fenstermaker on May 24, 1957.

Amos was a member of the Trinity United Methodist in Berne. He and his wife served the church as a former custodian. He also served as a trustee, van ministry chairman, Youth Missions, and Men's Fellowship. He was employed for 46 years at Berne Furniture, where he drove truck delivering furniture throughout the mid- west. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, riding in convertibles, boating, fishing, and detailing cars.

He is survived by his wife, son, Tab A. Liechty, of Geneva: three daughters, Monica(Kent) Stoppenhagen of Decatur, Tami(Jeff) Sprunger and Marie(Greg) Nussbaum both of Berne: three sisters, Irena Sprunger and Leona(Phil) Neuenschwander, both of Berne; and Grace Herman of Petroleum; brother, Ernie Liechty of Berne; eight grandchldren, Tyler, Drew, Clayton, Madison Stoppenhagen, Sidney Sprunger, Anna Nussbaum, Grady Sprunger, and Margaret Nussbaum, and three great-grandchldren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Candice Shannon; three sisters, Vera Gerber, Marcella Scholl, and Esther Neuenschwander, and two brothers, Grover and Irvin Liechty.

Visitation from 2:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, August 22 at the Swiss Village Chapel and one hour prior to the 10:30am service on Thursday at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Berne.Officiating is Pastor Daniel Dahling.

Burial is in the MRE Cemetery in Berne.
