Christian J. "Chris" Liechty, 83 ,Berne, passed away Sunday morning at Swiss Village. He was the son of Walter and Amelia(Sprunger) Liechty on December 31, 1928 in Adams County. He married Betty(Steiner) Liechty on November 6, 1955, who survives.

Chris was a member of the First Mennonite Church where he taught Sunday School and was a volunteer at the yearly meat canner event. He was a retired farmer and was in oil and gas petroleum sales and delivery for 33 years. He retired from the National Oil & Gas Co. in sales and delivery. He was a member of the Hartford Township Advisory Board, and a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. Interests include: photography, reading, visiting with people, & for 60 years stayed in contact with his many veteran friends.

Survivors include: his wife, son, Mike(Elaine) Liechty Geneva, daughters, Audrey(Dan) Chapman, Carmel, and Lori(Jud) Myers, Berne. Grandchildren are Bryn, Jordon, Joshua and Justin Chapman, Nicholis, Abby, and Jessica Myers.

Preceding in death are his parents, a son, Bradley Liechty, brother, Harry, and sisters, Ernestine Sprunger, Florence Biberstine, Henrietta Biberstine, and Frieda Dieffenbach.

Funeral services are Wednesday, June 20, at 2 PM at the First Mennonite Church with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also Tuesday from 2-8 PM at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home. Officiating is Pastor Jerry Flueckiger.

Burial at the MRE Cemetery.

Memorials are to the Mennonite Meat Canner, Swiss Village Samaritan Fund and/or Family Life Care.
