Leonard M. "Max" Rigby, 88, Berne, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Adams Memorial Hospital. He was born to I. Marvin and Helen Mae(Richards) on September 26, 1923 in Jay County. He married Naomi(Dailey) Rigby on October 25, 1953 who is deceased.
He was an employee of Dunbar Furniture for 37 years in the shipping department. Max was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a prisoner of war for 9 months and a member of the Portland D.A.V. He attended the Trinity United Methodist Church. A special interest was tinkering with antique engines.
Survivors include: a daughter Janet(Glen) Walker, Portland, and a son, Rodney(Judy) Rigby, Berne, 4 grand daughters and 7 great-grandchildren. sisters Erma Dale(Bernard) Nearon, Portland, Virginia(Joe)Flatt, Anderson, and half sister, Mary Lou Ball, Sturgis, MI.
Preceding in death are his parents, wife, step mother, Lucille (Endres), brother Harold, half brother, Joe and sisters, Chloe Wood and Kim Rigby.
Funeral services are Sunday 1 pm at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Also visitation on Saturday from 3 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Officiating is Pastor Mark Harris.
