Donald J. Sprunger

April 16, 1915 - November 28, 2011

Donald J. Sprunger, 96, Berne, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011 at Swiss Village. He was born to Robert L. and Rhoda (Liechty) Sprunger on April 16, 1915. He married Mary Jane (Nussbaum) who passed away in 1965. Then he married Doris (Reichenbac) who died in 2006.

He was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne where he taught Sunday School and sang in the chancel choir and Men's Chorus. He also attended the Maplewood Mennonite Church in Fort Wayne for 10 years. Donald began working at the Berne Overall Co and later retired as Superintendent for the Indiana Construction Co., Fort Wayne for over 30 years.

Survivors include 2 sons 3 daughters, 1 sister and 1 brother. Daughters Reggie Steiner, Berne, Jane Bean,Berne, step daughter, Margo (James() Loguidice, Doylestown, Pa. Sons, Phillip (Janice) Sprunger, Bluffton, Ohio, Dennis (Bonnie Holle) Sprunger, Fort Wayne. Sister Betty Gurley, Berne and a brother, Rev. Sam (Donna Mae) Sprunger Schereville, In. 8 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren. 17 great-grandchildren.

Preceding in death are his parents 2 wives and brothers, Edgar, Eugene, John, Roy and great grandson, Kole Keller.

Funeral Services are 10:30 am Thursday, December 1, at Swiss Village Chapel with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation also Wednesday from 4-8 pm at Swiss Village. Officiating is Pastor Jerry Flueckiger.

Burial in the MRE Cemetery, Berne.
