DeWayne L. Beer, 74, rural Berne, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Adams Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 22, 1937 in Adams County, Indiana. His parents are the late Marcella (Beer) Meshberger and step father, Chris Meshberger.
He married Alice (Stauffer) on July 4, 1957 in Berne. Survivors include his wife, a son, Charles (Mona) Beer, Berne, 2 daughters, Sandra (Fred) Affolder, Geneva, Ann (Timothy) Geimer, Decatur, 7 grandchildren, & 7 great-grandchildren, and 3 step- brothers, Robert of Tucson, Arizona , Lester of Rockford, Illinois, and Don Meshberger of Bluffton, Indiana.
DeWayne was a retired lifetime farmer, former employer and Superintendent of Adams County Hi-Way Department with 25 years of service, for several years drove truck for Moser Trucking, A Veteran and member of the Bluffton National Guard, Member of the Berne American Legion Post #468. Special interests include- hunting, fishing and tractor pulling.
He is precdeded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are Wednesday, September 28, at 10:30 am at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Officiating is Pastor Joe Gerkin.
Visitation also at the funeral home on Tuesday 2 to 8 PM. Burial at the MRE Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Family Hospice of NE Indiana.
