Kenneth H. Liechty, 86, Berne, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at his residence.

Kenneth was born on March 24, 1925. He was the son of the late Elmer and Leona (Sprunger) Liechty of Berne. He married Rose Marie (Aschleman) Liechty on September 4, 1948 at the Cross Evangelical & Reformed Church.

In 1987 Ken retired after 32 years as an employee of Dunbar Furniture. He served in many departments throughout the factory including supervisory positions and later plant manager.
He also used a skill he had learned earlier in furniture repair throughout the area. In retirement he was employed at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home assisting in visitation and funerals.

Ken served on the Adams County Plan Commission from 1993-1997 and on the Adams County Zoning Board of Appeals from 1988-1997. He graduated from Berne High School in 1944 and was the first freshman class to attend the new High School. Ken was a former member of the Berne Lions Club.

As a member of the Cross United Church of Christ, he served as Elder, Deacon, & Trustee. And was on the MRE Cemetery board.

He is survived by his wife Rose Marie, a son Lyle (Susan) Liechty, Carmel, Indiana and a daughter, Beth Walker, Berne, Indiana. Grandchildren, Ken & Whitnie Walker, Christopher, Caroline, and Claire Liechty. A sister, Deloris (Bryce) Christy, Berne.

Preceded in death are his parents and a sister Mathilda Lois Howard.

Funeral services are Friday,September 23, at 2:00 PM at the Cross United Church of Christ, 1195 Hendricks Street, Berne with visitation 1 hour prior to services at the church. Also visitation Thursday at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home from 3 to 8 PM. Officiating is Pastor Timothy Price.

Burial at the MRE Cemetery, Berne
