Paul S. Liechty, 93, Berne, passed away on July 22, at Swiss Village. He was the son of the late Albert W. Liechty and Ida(Moser) on November 17, 1917 in Adams County.
Paul was a member of the First Mennonite Church where he taught Sunday School and helped in the church library. He was on the executive board of the Mennonite Choral Society for many years. Paul each year for 40 years wrote a Christmas Carol. Paul graduated from Goshen College with a Bachelor's degree in education. He also received the degrees of Master of Education and Specialist in Education from
Ball State. He taught 4 years in Union City, Indiana and 30 years in the Decatur Schools, Decatur, In. as an elementary teacher. Special interests include listening to classical music , playing the piano, and reading. He was a Veteran of WW II serving in the Civilian Public Service for 4 years.
He is survived by his sister, Anna V. Liechty, Berne, nieces Martha Showalter, Ann Arbor, MI., Miriam Griffin, Oak Ridge, Tenn., and nephew, Jonathan Habegger, Tuscon, Ar. Preceding in death are 2 sisters, Mary J. Augsburger, and Ruth B. Habegger.
Funeral Services are Friday, August 5, 2:30 pm at Swiss Village Chapel with visitation from 1:30 pm to time of services. Pastors Jerry Flueckiger and Jeff Linthicum officiating.
Graveside services Friday, 5th at 10:30 am at the MRE Cemetery, Berne.
