Margaret Belle Beitler, 92, of Swiss Village in Berne passed away on July 1, 2011 at Adams Memorial Hospital.
Margaret was born on May 24, 1919 to Martin L. "Ice Cream Mike" and Linda (Luginbill) who are deceased. She married Richard Beitler on October 17, 1948, who survives.
Margaret was a member of the Cross Community Church where she was active in the choir, taught Sunday School & Bible School. Margaret was also a member of the Dorcas Circle. She was formerly employed at her father's ice plant and the Berne Ice Cream Co., Smith Brothers Funiture, White Cottage, and Parkway Restaurant. She was a member of the Berne Mother's Club and her special interests were quilting, gardening, and being a homemaker.
Margaret is survived by her husband, 4 sons and 2 daughters. Paul Beitler, Bluffton, Samuel (Jayne) Beitler, Evansville, Ryan (Brenda) Beitler, Berne and Ted (Gretta) Beitler, Berne, daughters, Ellen (Wayne) King Clarksville, Tenn., and Carolyn (Bryce) Hoffman, Monroe. Also 12 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. A sister, Opal Zuercher, of New Mexico.
She is preceded in death by a son, Thomas, grandson, Trent Hoffman, and a brother, Max Sprunger.
Funeral services are Tuesday, July 5 at 10:00 am at the Cross Community Church with visitation 1 hour prior to services.
Visitation for friends is Monday, July 4, 2 - 8 pm at the Swiss Village Chapel in Berne. Officiating are Pastor Joseph Gerkin and Chaplain Anita Rediger. Burial is at the M.R.E. Cemetery, Berne.
Preferred memorials are to the church and Swiss Village Samaritan Fund.
