Martha V. Eicher, 102, a resident of Berne, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Swiss Village.
Martha was born on April 21, 1909 in Adams County to Emil and Pauline((Liechty) both deceased.
She married Lawrence "Mutt" Eicher on November 30, 1935 and he preceded her in death in 1986.
Martha was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne. Martha enjoyed music and was a member of the Chancel Choir, Ladies Choir, and Mennonite Choral Society. She sang in the Mennonite rendition of the "Messiah" for over 65 years. Martha was co-chairman of the quilting and assistance committees. And was a member of Women in Mission.
Martha is survived by two daughters. Helen(Walter G.) Fox, Berne and Mary(Syril) Bruns, Alexandria, In. Other survivors include 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by 1 sister and 4 brothers. Lydia Thielman and brothers Edward, Bernard, Norman, and Vincent Liechty.
Funeral services are Saturday, June 25, at 2 PM at the First Mennonite Church with Pastor Jerry Flueckiger and Marie Nussbaum officiating. Interment is in the M.R.E Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday 3 to 8 pm at the Swiss Village Chapel.
Preferred memorials are to the Mennonite Choral Society &/or the Church funeral meal fund.
