Helen M. Keller, 92, a resident of Berne, Indiana passed away at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne.
Helen was born on November 21, 1918 in Berne, Indiana the daughter of Edward and Ethel (Davidson) Elzey, both deceased. She married Herbert Keller on June 2, 1946 in Berne and he preceded her in death in 2007.
Helen was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Berne. She was a bookkeeper for Nussbaum Novelty in Berne and later worked as a bookkeeper for Habegger Builders Supply in Berne for twenty years, retiring in 1981. Helen enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, watching birds, and growing flowers.
Helen is survived by a daughter, JoAnn (David) Gierhart of Bryant, Indiana and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Keller of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Other survivors include seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by a son, James Keller and brothers, Gerald Elzey and Arthur Elzey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Swiss Village Chapel with the Chaplain Anita Rediger officiating. Interment will be in the Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bryant, Indiana.
Family and friends will be received from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Swiss Village Chapel.
Preferred memorials are to the Timber Bay Outdoor Adventures Youth Ministry, founded by the James Keller Family.
