B. Jerome Nussbaum, 95, a resident of Berne, Indiana passed away at 5:40 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne.
Jerome was born on March 10, 1916 in Adams County, Indiana the son of Wilbert and Lila (Sprunger) Nussbaum, both deceased. He married Dorcas Liechty on June 20, 1937 and she preceded him in death on July 15, 2008.
Jerome was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne where he was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Chancel Choir, and a member of the Mennonite Choral Society. He was a master craftsman, a former employee of the Adams County Co-Op, and later, was employed at the Berne Lumber Company. Jerome was a member of the Berne Lions Club and was the owner of the Nussbaum Fire Extinguisher Company.
Jerome is survived by a son, Gregg A. (Judy Snyder) Nussbaum of Goshen, Indiana; a brother, Paul Nussbaum of Berne; and a sister, Ruth Schwartz of Berne. Other survivors include seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Jerome was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Longenberger, a son, Wayne Nussbaum, and sisters, Irene Nussbaum, Bernice Flueckiger, and Mary Jane Sprunger.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 in the Swiss Village Chapel with the Pastors Anita Rediger and Jeff Linthicum officiating. Interment will be in the M.R.E. Cemetery of rural Berne.
Family and friends will be received from 11:30 am - 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 in the Swiss Village Chapel.
Preferred memorials are to the Mennonite Mission Network or the Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary.
