John H. Poorman, 84, a resident of Berne, Indiana passed away at 8:40 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne.
John was born on January 10, 1927 in Coles, Illinois the son of Charles L. and Grayce (Kruger) Poorman, both deceased.
He married Norma Schindler on February 14, 1947 at the West Missionary Church Parsonage in Berne.
John was a member of the Free Christian Church of God in Continental, Ohio. He was also a member and lead singer of the Gospel Crusaders for over 40 years. John was a former employee of Dunbar Furniture Company in Berne for over 40 years working as a production expeditor. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the United States Army.
John is survived by his wife, Norma Poorman of Berne and a brother, Max (Mabel) Poorman of New Haven, Indiana.
John was preceded in death by a brother, Lynn Poorman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the Swiss Village Chapel with the Rev. James Fry officiating. Interment will be in the M.R.E. Cemetery of rural Berne.
Family and friends will be received from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday March 29, 2011 at the Swiss Village Chapel and one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.
