Raymond L. Zurcher, 77, a resident of Berne, Indiana passed away at the Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne on Wednesday, January 5, 2011.
Raymond was born on July 22, 1933 in Adams County, Indiana the son of Christian F. and Martha (Ebnit) Zurcher, both deceased. He married Marjorie Norr on August 9, 1958 and she survives.
Raymond was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Raymond was a farmer and former employee of the Berne Furniture Company retiring after thirty-nine years of service.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Marjorie Zurcher of Berne; a son, Dwight Zurcher of Berne; a daughter, Susan (Brian) Culy of Linn Grove, Indiana; a daughter, Elaine (Mike) Liechty of Berne; a brother, Merlin (Leah) Zurcher of Berne; a brother, Marvin (Evelyn) Zurcher of Berne; a sister, Berniece Davidson of Berne; a sister, Delores Hirschy of Monroe, Indiana, a sister, Evelyn Yohe of Lemoyne, Pennsylvania; and a grandson, Andrew Culy.
Raymond was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Fox Sullivan and Iva Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the First Mennonite Church with the Pastor Jerry Flueckiger, the Pastor Kent Norr, and Marie Nussbaum officiating. Interment will be in the M.R.E. Cemetery of rural Berne.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Sunday.
Preferred memorials are to the Mennonite Meat Canner or to Mennonite Missions.
