Joseph C. Shaffer Sr.

Joseph C. Shaffer, Sr., 68, of Decatur, Indiana passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Parkview Hospital Randallia, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on May 10, 1955, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Cecil “Red” E. Shaffer and the late Phyllis (Bonifas) Shaffer.

Joe was divorced from E. Maxine (Sheets) Shaffer, and they remained close friends until Maxine’s passing.

He was a former member of the Decatur Moose, and a former dues paying member of the United Roofers Union.

He previously worked as a Union Roofer and a Truck Driver before becoming disabled.

Joe was a prankster with a solid sense of humor! He loved his family, and enjoyed spending holidays and birthdays with his grandsons.

Survivors include his son, Joe C. Shaffer Jr. of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Mary Alice (David) Shaffer Burns of Noblesville, Indiana; and two grandsons, Charles E. Shaffer and Zachary D. Shaffer.

Joe was preceded in death by a sister, Kate Conrad; and three brothers, John, Thomas and Dan Shaffer.

Private family services will be held.

Preferred memorials can be given to the donor’s choice.
