HONOR FLIGHT #10
On May 29, 2013, in the early morning hours, the 10th
Northeast Indiana Honor Flight of 75 World War II veterans departed from the
122nd Air National Guard Base in Ft. Wayne and arrived in Washington
DC. They will be met at the airport by
many volunteers and board their buses to begin their journey to the World War
II Memorial. During this guided tour,
the World War II veterans from Adams County and other Northeast Indiana
communities will visit the World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Lincoln, Women’s War
Memorial and Iwo Jima Memorials with the final stop being Arlington National
Cemetery. While at Arlington they will
witness the Changing of the Guard at the end of the day. These are just a few of the main highlights
from this trip.
The first Northeast Indiana Honor Flight was held on May 13,
2009 after much preparation. In a little
over 3 years, eight total flights will have been made, carrying over 400 World
War II Veterans to see their memorial in Washington DC and a 11th is being
planned for the fall of 2013.
As one of the original Corporate Level Sponsors, Zwick &
Jahn Funeral Homes are proud to have been involved in assisting this worthy
organization meet its goal. For more
